Absorption — treating the sound in the room

Absorption is what you install when you want to reduce echo, flutter, or long reverberation inside a room. The five main absorber families in the Acoustimart catalogue are acoustic foams (pyramid and wedge geometries plus flat PU foam sheets), PET polyester panels, wood wool boards, poly wadding, and rockwool. Each has different strengths.

Acoustic foams — pyramid, wedge, and flat PU — are the workhorse of studios, home theatres, and podcast rooms. Pyramid foam is the default broadband absorber; wedge foam is the vocal-booth specialist; flat PU sheets are the material you cut and shape into custom absorbers and bass traps.

PET polyester panels are the mainstream office-and-hospitality choice — non-fibrous, wipe-clean, safe around occupants, and available in a wide colour range. Wood wool boards deliver similar acoustic performance with impact-tolerance and non- combustible fire behaviour, making them the standard for schools and industrial spaces. Poly wadding is the hidden infill inside gripper-fabric walls; rockwool is the higher-performance alternative for studios and fire-rated partitions.

Isolation — stopping sound at the boundary

Isolation is a different problem — stopping sound from crossing a wall, floor, or ceiling into an adjacent space. Absorbers do nothing for isolation; you need mass. Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) is the go-to isolation material — a dense flexible sheet that adds mass inside walls without adding depth. Standard for home theatres, hotel guest rooms, studio isolation shells, and multiplex cinema inter-hall walls.

Most projects need both absorption and isolation. A recording studio needs MLV inside the walls to keep external noise out (isolation) plus absorbers inside the room to control reflections (absorption). A home theatre needs the same combination. Getting this stack right is what separates a properly-treated room from one that’s only halfway there.

The fabric-wrap gripper system

The most versatile finish system in the catalogue is our uPVC gripper wall — a three-part system combining the gripper edge track, acoustic infill (usually poly wadding or rockwool), and decorative fabric. The gripper system is the premium acoustic wall finish used in auditoriums, boardrooms, worship venues, and broadcast studios across India. It’s serviceable (un-tuck fabric, access what’s behind, re-tuck), colour- flexible (change fabric without touching acoustics), and engineered to last decades.

Ceiling systems — baffles, panels, and clouds

The ceiling is often the highest-ROI acoustic surface in a room because it’s exposed to sound from every direction. Three formats: flat ceiling panels (PET or wood wool tiles suspended in T-grids), baffle ceilings (vertical suspended elements ideal for exposed-slab industrial and hospitality spaces), and floating acoustic clouds (individual panels with air gap between panel and slab for improved low-frequency absorption).

Which format depends on ceiling height and design brief. Standard commercial ceilings under 3.5 m: T-grid ceiling panels are the default. Double-height volumes or exposed slabs: baffles. Design-featured lobbies or reception areas: floating clouds shaped into visual accents.

Installation systems and accessories

The catalogue rounds out with the hardware and tools professional installers need — tracks and trims for suspending baffles and finishing wall panels, acoustic carpets for combined floor-absorption and impact-noise reduction, and the fabric- tucking-tools kit that separates a professional gripper install from an amateur one. These are the small pieces that make the visible acoustic materials install properly and stay installed for their full service life.
