Acoustic Foams
Wedge Acoustic Foam
Wedge-profile foam for aggressive mid/high absorption in vocal booths and control rooms.
Overview
Wedge Acoustic Foam delivers deeper mid-frequency absorption than pyramid profiles at the same thickness, making it a strong choice for vocal booths, isolation rooms, and mix rooms where a controlled, dry response is required.

Wedge Foam — Standard Sheet
Buyer’s guide
Everything worth knowing before you buy.
Wedge Acoustic Foam is the specialist's absorber — chosen when you want the room darker and the mids tighter than pyramid foam delivers. The wedge geometry (parallel angled fins rising from a flat base) creates longer air-path corridors that give measurably deeper mid-frequency absorption at the same thickness as pyramid, at the cost of slightly reduced high-frequency scatter.
The wedge profile — why it absorbs more mids
Sound entering a wedge panel travels down a corridor between two angled fins before it hits the base — a longer path than in a pyramid panel of equal thickness. Longer paths mean more energy converted to heat inside the foam, so lower frequencies get absorbed more effectively.
The trade-off: pyramid foams scatter more, wedge foams absorb more. In a small vocal booth you want absorption — pick wedge. In a mixing room you want a balance of scatter and absorption — pick pyramid. This is the choice pattern used by studios worldwide.
The classic use cases
Vocal booths: 50 mm wedge on all four walls and ceiling, with a fully-enclosed dead space around the mic. This is the go-to Acoustimart spec for regional broadcast studios and voice-over rooms.
Isolation booths: same principle, larger scale. When you need one instrument to not bleed into the next mic, wedge foam does the room treatment inside a mass-loaded shell.
Mix room corners: wedge tighter than pyramid at the corners, where multiple wall-planes converge and standing waves build up. Corner wedge treatment is a small but noticeable improvement in mid-range clarity.
Wedge foam vs bass traps — different jobs
Wedge foam works from ~300 Hz upwards. Real bass control (below 200 Hz — kick drum body, bass guitar fundamentals, cinema LFE) needs mass-and-depth: corner bass traps built from 100 mm+ PU foam, or dedicated tuned absorbers.
The mistake beginners make is trying to fix boomy bass with more wedge foam. It won't. Fix bass with corner traps; fix mids with wedge or pyramid; fix highs with either.
Density — 32 kg/m³ across the range
Acoustimart wedge foam runs the same 32 kg/m³ density as our pyramid range. The wedge geometry does the acoustic work; density is chosen for dimensional stability and long-term durability.
Cheaper imports run lower density and higher variance — you'll see the wedge tips deform after six months and lose their absorption profile. Ours holds shape through Indian humidity swings for 8+ years.
Sizing and layout for a vocal booth
Standard Indian vocal booth is 4×4×7 ft interior. That's 7 m² of wall + ceiling to treat. At 50 mm thickness in 60×60 cm panels, you need about 19 panels — call it two 3×6 ft sheets cut on-site, giving you 22 pieces of 60×60 cm with some cutting waste.
Cover 80% of the four walls (leave door and window untreated). Cover 100% of the ceiling. Floor stays hard for standing/sitting comfort. The result: an RT60 of 0.15–0.20 s — reference broadcast target.
Bulk pricing for studio-build orders
Wedge foam is our most common studio-build order. If you're specifying for a multi-room facility (broadcast, recording, podcast pods across a floor), reach out — bulk pricing kicks in at 20+ sheets and scales further from there. Studio-build partners across India have Acoustimart on standing order for this reason.
Benefits
Why customers choose Wedge Acoustic Foam.
Manufacturer-direct pricing, project-scale timelines, and real acoustic-engineering support behind every order.
- Broadband absorption of mid and high frequencies
- Reduces flutter echo and standing waves in small rooms
- Lightweight — installs on drywall, wood, or glass with adhesive
- Available in multiple thicknesses and densities for different rooms
Installation guide
- Layout absorbers on primary reflection points and rear wall
- Fix using adhesive spray, tile-tape, or the Acoustimart uPVC gripper system for a serviceable finish
- Leave 40–100 mm air gap behind absorbers for improved low-frequency absorption
- For studios, treat corners with thicker PU-foam bass traps
Care & maintenance
- Vacuum with a soft-brush attachment every 2–3 months
- Foam degrades under direct sunlight — install away from UV exposure
- Do not paint — even a thin coat closes the open cells and kills absorption
Wedge foam absorbs mid frequencies slightly deeper at the same thickness, making it stronger for vocal booths. Pyramid gives a more balanced broadband response and is our default recommendation for mix rooms and podcast studios.
Our acoustic-grade PU foam is self-extinguishing. Project-scale fire certification is available on request.
