Acoustic Foams
Pyramid Acoustic Foam
Four-sided pyramid-profile foam for effective broadband absorption and cleaner recordings.
Overview
The unique four-sided design of Pyramid Acoustic Foam increases the material's surface area, resulting in effective sound absorption and acoustic treatment. Pyramid panels improve audio clarity and reduce reverberation — the workhorse of professional recording, mixing, and podcast rooms.

Pyramid Foam — Standard Sheet
Buyer’s guide
Everything worth knowing before you buy.
Pyramid Acoustic Foam is the workhorse of Indian home studios, podcast rooms, and mid-market home theatres. The four-sided pyramid profile is not just a visual choice — it maximises the fabric-facing surface area so incoming sound waves encounter absorbent material at more angles than a flat panel. That translates into cleaner broadband absorption in the mid and high frequencies that matter most for voice and music mid-range clarity.
Where pyramid foam earns its keep
Pyramid foam absorbs strongest across 500 Hz to 4 kHz — the range that carries speech intelligibility and music mid-range clarity. Put it on primary reflection points (side walls, ceiling, rear wall) in a small room and you'll hear a measurable drop in flutter echo within seconds of the first panel going up.
It's less effective below 250 Hz. For low-frequency control (kick drums, bass guitar, cinema LFE) pair pyramid foam on the walls with corner PU-foam bass traps. That's the standard studio recipe worldwide — absorption breadth from foam, low-end control from corners.
Coverage rule for a typical room
For a 10×12 ft podcast or mix room, plan on 30–40% wall coverage. That's roughly 12 panels of 60×60 cm on primary reflection points and rear wall, plus four corner bass traps. A 15×20 ft home theatre usually needs 18–24 wall panels plus ceiling clouds directly above the seating position.
Under-treat and you'll hear the room in the mix. Over-treat and the room sounds airless and fatiguing — you'll notice it within 30 minutes of first use. The 30–40% rule is a strong starting point; the acoustic engineer on our team can tune from there if you send dimensions.
Density and thickness — what actually matters
Acoustimart's pyramid foam ships at 32 kg/m³ density. That's the sweet spot for open-cell PU foam: high enough for consistent broadband absorption, low enough to stay affordable and lightweight. Cheaper imports run 22–26 kg/m³ — you get bigger air pockets, less consistent absorption, and faster degradation.
Thickness matters more than density for low-end reach. A 50 mm panel absorbs measurably deeper mids than a 25 mm panel of the same density. Our standard 3×6 ft sheets can be cut into any panel size on-site with a bread knife or sharp utility blade.
Pyramid vs wedge foam — which do you need?
Pyramid and wedge foams look similar and cost roughly the same. The difference: wedge foams absorb slightly deeper into the mids at equal thickness because the wedge profile creates longer air-path corridors between fins. Wedge is the classic vocal-booth pick.
Pyramid is broader, flatter, and more balanced — the default for mixing, podcast, and home-theatre rooms where you want the room to feel controlled without going dead. If you're not sure, pick pyramid. If your room already sounds too bright and you want it darker, pick wedge.
Installation and long-term maintenance
Install with acoustic-friendly adhesive spray (3M 74 or equivalent) or command strips for renters. For premium installs, use Acoustimart uPVC grippers with the foam as infill behind acoustic fabric — this gives you a serviceable, replaceable, wall-mounted panel that survives moves and refurbs.
Vacuum monthly with a soft brush attachment. Never paint acoustic foam — even a thin coat closes the open cells and kills absorption. Keep away from direct sunlight; UV yellowing is real over 3+ years of exposure. Kept out of sunlight, our foam retains full performance for 8-10 years.
Why choose Acoustimart pyramid foam over imports
Imported pyramid foam is usually a random purchase — you get whatever density and formulation was in the last shipping container. Acoustimart runs a single, consistent formulation in our own facility, batch-checked for density and cell structure. You'll get the same product on order #1 and order #100.
That consistency matters most when you're specifying at project scale — an architect can spec Acoustimart pyramid foam knowing every panel will absorb identically, and the acoustic report the client signs off on will match the delivered room.
Benefits
Why customers choose Pyramid Acoustic Foam.
Manufacturer-direct pricing, project-scale timelines, and real acoustic-engineering support behind every order.
- Broadband absorption of mid and high frequencies
- Reduces flutter echo and standing waves in small rooms
- Lightweight — installs on drywall, wood, or glass with adhesive
- Available in multiple thicknesses and densities for different rooms
Installation guide
- Layout absorbers on primary reflection points and rear wall
- Fix using adhesive spray, tile-tape, or the Acoustimart uPVC gripper system for a serviceable finish
- Leave 40–100 mm air gap behind absorbers for improved low-frequency absorption
- For studios, treat corners with thicker PU-foam bass traps
Care & maintenance
- Vacuum with a soft-brush attachment every 2–3 months
- Foam degrades under direct sunlight — install away from UV exposure
- Do not paint — even a thin coat closes the open cells and kills absorption
Wedge foam absorbs mid frequencies slightly deeper at the same thickness, making it stronger for vocal booths. Pyramid gives a more balanced broadband response and is our default recommendation for mix rooms and podcast studios.
