Fabric-Wrap Systems
Acoustic Fabric
Acoustically transparent decorative fabric for wrapping gripper walls, panels, and ceiling baffles.
Overview
Acoustic fabric is the visible skin of a gripper-fabric wall system. It has to look premium, feel taut, and — most importantly — let sound pass through without reflecting it. Acoustimart supplies stretch-knit polyester and open-weave fabrics from a wide colour and texture range, all vetted for acoustic transparency and flame retardance.

Buyer’s guide
Everything worth knowing before you buy.
Acoustic Fabric is the visible skin of every fabric-wrap acoustic wall in India. It has to look premium under commercial-grade fluorescent lighting, feel taut under years of humidity swings, resist fading and staining, and — critically — let sound pass through it without reflecting. Acoustimart supplies stretch-knit polyester and open-weave decorative fabrics vetted for all of these properties, from architects' project palettes.
Acoustic transparency — why it matters
An acoustic-transparent fabric lets sound waves pass through to the absorptive infill behind. A non-transparent fabric reflects sound back into the room, defeating the entire acoustic system.
This is why decorator fabric from a home textile store won't work for a gripper wall — most home textiles are too tightly woven to be acoustically transparent. Acoustimart's fabrics are all tested for acoustic transparency; the weave structure lets sound through while the visual finish reads as premium wall covering.
Stretch-knit vs open-weave — which to pick
Stretch-knit polyester is the go-to for gripper-fabric wall systems. The stretch lets the installer tuck the fabric tight without wrinkles, and the polyester takes colour well. This is what 80% of Acoustimart's fabric-wrap projects use.
Open-weave decorative fabrics are the choice for design-featured installations — restaurants, retail, hotel lobbies where the fabric's weave is part of the visual language. Sourced from specialty textile mills; longer lead times than stock stretch-knit.
Colour range and custom options
Standard colour range covers 40+ colours from neutrals (grey, cream, taupe, ivory) through accent tones (deep blue, forest green, burgundy, mustard). All are current-inventory stock for immediate dispatch.
Custom colour matching is available for brand palette work — send us a Pantone reference or a physical swatch and we'll dye to match. Lead time 6-8 weeks; MOQ applies.
Custom digital-print is the premium option — any pattern, logo, or artwork printed directly onto acoustically-transparent base fabric. Lead time 4-6 weeks; MOQ 50 m. Popular for hospitality feature walls and boardrooms with brand imagery.
Fire rating — Class B standard, Class A on request
Standard Acoustimart stretch-knit ships as Class B fire-rated. Adequate for most commercial applications; standard for offices, hotels, and retail installations.
Class A fire-rated fabrics are the requirement for cinema, auditorium, and public assembly applications under most Indian building codes. Class A rated fabrics are available from our stock range with 4-week lead time, or from custom-mill sources for premium projects.
For projects where fire certification is required in tender documents, request batch fire test reports at the time of order. We supply with the shipment.
Fabric care and long-term performance
Vacuum monthly with a soft brush attachment. Spot-clean stains with a dry microfiber cloth or foam upholstery cleaner. Never wet-clean gripper fabric — moisture penetrates through the fabric to the infill and can cause long-term issues.
For serious cleaning, un-tuck the fabric, remove and dry-clean or professionally clean, then re-tuck. This is one of the reasons gripper systems are used in premium installations: the fabric is completely serviceable without disturbing the acoustics.
Colour retention is excellent — stretch-knit polyester is UV-stable and holds colour for 8+ years of typical indoor installation. Direct sunlight exposure will fade any dye eventually; kept away from sunlight, colours hold for the life of the fabric.
Ordering and MOQ
Stock stretch-knit fabrics: no MOQ, ships from current inventory in standard widths.
Custom-dyed colours: MOQ 200 m, lead time 6-8 weeks, dedicated pricing.
Custom digital-print: MOQ 50 m, lead time 4-6 weeks, per-project pricing.
For bulk projects requiring multiple colour ways or long yardages, we suggest sending the full BOM at enquiry stage — this lets us optimise print runs and reduce lead time.
