Routine cleaning — monthly
Vacuum the fabric monthly with a soft brush attachment on a low suction setting. This removes surface dust before it settles into the weave.
For high-traffic areas (auditorium wall panels, corridor panels), vacuum every two weeks.
Spot cleaning — as needed
For dry stains (dust, food crumbs): brush with a soft brush, then vacuum.
For light liquid stains (coffee splash): blot with a dry microfiber cloth immediately, then sponge lightly with foam upholstery cleaner. Never soak the fabric.
For heavy stains: un-tuck the fabric, spot-clean or dry-clean, re-tuck. This is one reason gripper systems are used in premium installations.
What not to do
Never wet-clean fabric while installed. Moisture penetrates through to the infill and can cause long-term problems.
Never use bleach or aggressive chemical cleaners. They damage the fabric and can affect fire ratings.
Never install fabric walls in direct sunlight without UV-stable fabric grades. Standard fabrics will fade.
Fabric replacement — every 8-10 years
In heavy-use commercial installations, plan for fabric replacement every 8-10 years. Aesthetic wear (colour fading, weave stretching) shows before acoustic performance degrades.
This is when a gripper system pays off: replace fabric on all panels in a single day, no demolition, no acoustic disturbance. The infill and frame stay put.
